Kitchen Rules - Objective

  1. To promote cleanliness and good hygiene in the kitchen.
  2. To provide a hassle-free experience while using the kitchen.

Kitchen Rules

Kindly follow common guidelines, generally prescribed, for the respective appliances in the kitchen. If you aren’t sure on how to use something, kindly ask the management for a demo.

Residents are free to procure & use their own utensils/cutlery. The cleaning, maintenance and storage of the same is the responsibility of the resident.

All appliances, cooking utensils and cutlery provided in the kitchen belong to the kitchen only. Under no circumstances can they be found lying in your personal rooms.

Using community utensils/cutlery for consuming food in your personal rooms and storing leftovers in your personal refrigerator is strictly prohibited. Residents are advised to procure their personal cutlery for this purpose.

Residents are expected to purchase their own groceries and essentials necessary for their cooking.

Further, residents are expected to store their groceries/condiments in the personal refrigerator provided in their rooms. Some commonly used essentials can be stored in storage spaces in the kitchen which are allotted subject to availability.

Residents are strictly advised not to use any personal groceries or utensils or cutlery that do not belong to you

DOs

  1. Share kitchen resources judiciously without causing inconvenience to others
  2. Keep the kitchen spaces clean and tidy. Be courteous to do some basic clean-up on the gas stove, granite surfaces and near the resident’s sink after you are done with your cooking. Use the appropriate cleaning tools (cleaning towels, absorbent wipes or hand wipers) that are provided. Let the next person using the kitchen after you feel comfortable to use the kitchen. Not disgusted.
  3. Discard soiled utensils and cutlery in their designated bins in the dishwashing area.
  4. Some utensils are limited in number like mixie jars, chopping boards, knives, sandwich grill, egg boiler, chakla and belan etc. After using them, kindly rinse/wash/clean them appropriately and keep them in their respective places, so that it is ready to use for the next person. DO NOT discard them in the dishwashing area.
  5. Use suitable and appropriate containers to seal and store your groceries or condiments. Unsealed food items might attract rodents / cockroaches.
  6. Kindly SWITCH-OFF all appliances that are not in use, before leaving the kitchen.
  7. Report any untoward incident caused by you.

DO NOTs

  1. DO NOT leave the food you are cooking unattended.
  2. DO NOT use kitchen utensils, bowls, plates etc. to store any leftovers. Kindly purchase your own, if necessary.
  3. DO NOT take any cooking utensils to your rooms. By doing so, you are depriving others of their use.
  4. DO NOT discard/dump any solid waste in the resident’s sink.
  5. DO NOT discard any utensils/cutlery in the residents’ sink. It should stay clean, tidy and unclogged at all times.
  6. DO NOT use personal cutlery/utensils that don’t belong to you.
  7. DO NOT use groceries/essentials that don’t belong to you.
  8. DO NOT use utensils/cutlery that are designated for VEG to cook/consume NON-VEG food.
  9. DO NOT store any leftovers in the kitchen refrigerator. Use your personal refrigerator. Any, if found, will be disposed.
  10. DO NOT leave behind any packaging material or carry bags in the kitchen. Dispose them properly.
  11. DO NOT allow guests to use the kitchen. As it is, the kitchen is congested when residents alone use it. The guest can accompany you, if the kitchen is free. Never leave a guest in the kitchen unaccompanied. They don't know the guidelines and most often they end up violating them. It's the host’s responsibility to ensure the guest’s adherence to guidelines.
