Laundry Guidelines - Objective

1. To give a fair opportunity for every resident to use the laundry resources, at least twice in a week.
2. To promote responsibility and enforce accountability while using laundry resources.
3. To prevent and penalize residents misusing laundry resources.

Residents are advised to follow the below schedule. Residents can plan additional requirements over weekends.

1. Residents are mandated to use the laundry bag provided in their room, while doing their laundry. Keep the laundry bag in front of the washing machine or underneath the drying stand, whichever is being used. Essentially, if your clothes are on the terrace, your laundry bag should be next to them. This way it's easy to identify who is using what. 
2. A total of nine (9) drying stands are provided, one marked for each room type. Residents are advised to dry clothes on their designated drying stand only. For example, residents of 104, 204, 304, 404 and 504 should dry their clothes on No. 4 drying stand only. Additional drying provision in the form of vertical drying stands, overhead drying rods/wires are provided to handle exceptional situations.
3. All drying stands should be cleared everyday by 7:30 AM, by the residents who used them the previous day. This allows the other residents who are scheduled to do their laundry on that day, to use the drying stands without any hassle.
4. Residents are expected to use their own detergent (liquid detergent only) for doing their laundry and use their own clips for drying their clothes.
5. Do not leave your clothes in the washing machine beyond their cycle time. Suggested cycle time for washing machine is 1-½ hrs. 
6. Do not leave clothes on the drying stands beyond beyond their cycle time. Suggested cycle time for drying stands is 12 hrs. If your clothes aren’t dry after 12 hrs, shift them to the additional drying provision. You need to clear the drying stand for the next resident.
7. If all washing machines are occupied, feel free to empty the clothes of the washing machine (whose cycle has been completed) into the resident’s laundry bag next to it and use it to get your laundry done. 
8. If your designated drying stand is occupied, try to use the additional drying provision, if possible. Otherwise, if you feel that the clothes are dried, then empty the clothes into the resident’s laundry bag beneath the drying stand and use your designated drying stand.
9. Using more than one washing machine or more than one drying stand at the same time is strictly prohibited. 
10. In a scenario, where you have to wash more clothes, use consecutive washing cycles(if necessary) but not more than one washing machine at the same time. 
11. In a scenario, where you have to dry more clothes, use the additional drying provision along with your designated drying stand.
